Write It Up Wednesday

Hello All
I think being honest about your past helps you let things go and you can really make amends with the past. It has been my goal to make up with people who I’ve hurt and ones that I may have said something stupid to or about. I started reaching out to professionals I had said something about or had a struggling friendship with, but really valued their thoughts, advice, and their chats. This has been a cleansing process for me as well and it’s been super awesome just being able to know I did my part in asking for their forgiveness. I know everyone won’t be like “Oh girl it’s all good.” Some will never be able to be a friend, on their part, and some will never be able to want to be my friend, but I take solace and knowledge in my part of hoping to heal and their healing as well.

On another bright note, I have made some major decisions and improvements to my life choices. First and foremost, I was looking at a picture of my kids and fell in love all over again with them. I want to do and be better for them. Be more consistent with their schedules, learning, and just being with them more. I love my kids and they are my biggest “whys” in this life. So my first decision is to stop saying I’m trying and actually really try. Really try. I always say I am trying but nothing comes from the fruits of my labor and then I have to sit back and think did I put any labor into it? No, I don’t. I love to work and I love to make my kids happy, but more than anything, I want to make their life and childhood amazing.
I sat at my desk today and really got sad but determined. Not only do I want more for them, but to be successful in my own right, so I can devote time to other places. I know now what needs to be done and I am so excited for that, actually excited. So for “Write It Up Wednesday” my writings are going to be my goals, my decisions, and my accomplishments I am making happen by the end of this month and the beginning of next month.

I hope you use Write It Up Wednesday to write down your goals, dreams, deadlines, etc. Happy Wednesday!!!

My Monday Morning Moment!

It’s Monday and we are very sorry for not posting on Wednesday or Friday. We love to blog but most importantly, we love to make sure our readers/followers/and those you comment are enjoying our content as well. We’ve been so busy, it’s been crazy. I love taking time to make sure that everyone’s needs are taken care of, that my assistants are using their time wisely, and that my family life is just as happy as my brides.

I am dedicating this Monday Morning Moment to a bride and groom I just enjoyed working with.  Their love and just simplicity of life for each other, their family, their faith was simply stunning and amazing. I thought to myself, “Is it really that simply?” Why, yes, yes it is.

Not only is it that simply, but being happy, falling in love and really enjoying life makes things simply. I have just learned to embrace things, really watch my kids and simply smile at them. I’ve learned to slow down, even if my mind is racing, my body has slowed, which in the end slows my mind down as well. I didn’t think being in love was for me, I am not the prettiest, the most talented, or the smartest, but I do love being me and learning that has been hard. However, learning this, I have been able to just take things in.

If things don’t come simple for you, that is ok. Things have always been a challenge for me to remember, obtain, or simply just enjoy. However, sometimes, we have to take the moments in life and simply be simple. Enjoy those moments, whatever they may be. Enjoy them with your special someone, enjoy them by yourself, or enjoy them with friends. However, take a moment out of your day and simply enjoy them.
 Thanks,
Erika S.

Thursday Thank You

Hello all again
Sorry I haven’t been consistent, I have been under the weather, even being in the ER once this week. I have been dealing with health problems since my kids were born, but enough about me…how have you been?!

I wanted to thank those that follow me and actively read my blogs (I do have more than this one). I also want to thank those that have voted for me and my business, Erika Swift Events. I have followed my dreams and am letting No One stop me from achieving all the goals and dreams I want. I see my success and now I simply will work backward from my success to the points I need to accomplish and this contest is a BIG step.

So, thank you for the ones that have voted for me and continue to support me. I am moving along now in the race! Today is Thursday and marks a moment in the week where we know we’ve passed the hump day, gotten over those Tuesday hang ups, and cant wait til Friday. It is a day most people, at least myself, can come home and really just be happy with the results of the day and be oh so excited for Fridays. Friday always brings out the super happiness in people and I love that.

I know there are many challenges but this week has taught me many things, knowing some of my problems aren’t that big and some of the little things are easier to take care of, that I love blogging and have missed it and really love working out, since I started that to. On Thursdays, I plan to start sharing my work outs with you, pictures and all. I have started working out and plan on doing it from Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but on Thursdays I plan to explain my work out and share how much I’ve lost and what the next week brings.

Motivation and determination have really entered me and not just for working out. Again, thanks for your support and love and continuing to read my little families blog.

Oh Mondays...how I love thee

A Monday Morning Me (A self note of refreshment)

As we push full steam ahead into July this beautiful Monday morning, we look around us and remember the small and big things we are grateful for. For a long while, I blamed everyone around me, and others too. I blamed them for my failures, their successes (weird, I know) and other things, but this is the way I was raised.

However, as an adult, we look back at our childhood, our mistakes, and we really search what went wrong, who did it (me), and why we made those decisions. As a child, I couldn’t control what my mom did or didn’t do, what we learned or didn’t lean, but as an adult I can control how it molds me and what I can do to change that.

I have a HUGE fear of actually being happy and succeeding in my life, my faith, my job, my goals, and with my kids. Lately though, I have been shaking off that fear and moving forward with my dreams and goals and how they can not only make me happy, but show my kids that happiness does come from within.

I want to start focusing on the good. Lately I have noticed some changes in me, which have made me amazingly happy. I’ve also noticed my trials and tribulations and how I wish I would have handled things different on some, I wish I had stayed in those trials and endured my test.
The past isn’t to be dwelt on, but simply to be looked at, learn the lessons missed, and move forward. I’ve always let my past dictate my future and I can’t do that anymore. I love blogging and hope to utilize it more; I will be making some changes for my future and the outcomes of success I want. Growth is all about learning and I am really glad I get to learn about it. Use it and apply it to my life.

Have a fantastic Monday!!

A moment that stood still

Yesterday was an amazing day for my career in wedding/event planning. I got a call from the offices of someone I truly admire and respect and have followed since I was 16 years of age. This designer has been my all time favorite, used by Oprah, just recently got married to his partner, and has four (working on the fifth) coffee table books.

Well, I thought of this event for Jan 2014 and sent out an email to his team, asking for pricing on the speakers’ fee, what’s needed to get him out here, etc. I got a CALL!!! A call from my favorite event designers CEO! I was so thrilled and beyond tickled pink. He wants to come to my event…how amazing is that!!! The phone call alone got me motivated to do amazing things, to stand strong in my will and determination of my dreams. The fact alone that he picked my event to attend made me want to do and be better in my goals and dreams and my business.

I want him out here so bad, that I looked into funding, crowd funding, investors, etc. I asked a friend of mine about sponsorships, how to get them etc. I found a lovely and wonderful crowd funding last night and signed up. I am reaching out to my friends, family, and lovely followers to help with this amount and help me be able to get this speaker here at this event. Other speakers have expressed their interest and really want to be a part of this too.

So, I ask that you take a look at my Go Fund Me site and see if you are able to donate anything at all to my business, Erika Swift Events, and hopefully rock the Denver state with an incredible speaker, event designer, and all around wonderful person! If you know me, you know that for me, asking for money (or help) is really hard, however, I am so close to my dreams and goals and aspirations, that I find myself being ok with asking for help. I know having this speaker here will not only help me, but the wedding professionals here in Colorado.

Making something

My weekend was amazing. The kids make my day and my life. They make me so happy. Sometimes I think what life would be like without kids. I think of the adventures, the movies I can watch, the travels, etc and then I always see myself looking down at my side and I see my twins. Life would be different without kids, but I wouldn’t want it any other way. I really love being around them and really love seeing them.

I am hoping to take them to the circus this weekend on Sunday. I love watching their expressions when they see the excitement of anything fun and fantastic. I think this would be something amazing for them to see and I would love love love to go. Hopefully, everything comes through and works out so I can.

I joined a blogging class this week and Tuesday was the first night and I learned a lot. I have a manual to go through and I am learning more and more about blogging. The class is four weeks long, every Tuesday in June. It talked about helping out other bloggers, monetizing your blog, and other great tips. So, I do plan on learning a lot with this course.

Nothing more amazing happened than me waking up and realizing I wanted to really do my passion. I love working this business of blogging, but I love another business even more. Actually two businesses are opening up for me, and I will be announcing them on Friday! Super excited about that!

I hope to keep getting more followers and people who comment on my blog, I would love it if you left a comment!
